- Thanks -

Disadvantages of Living Paycheck to Paycheck

Are you tired of the weekly excitement and drama of wondering how you’re going to make ends meet until your next paycheck with only $25 left in your pocket? I sure am. Having lived paycheck to paycheck for almost 10 years is enough for me to either realize I’ll never be different…or drive me SO crazy that I’m going to SCRATCH AND CLAW MY WAY OUT OF THIS MESS! Ok, an obvious emphasis on which one I’m leaning toward.

No long term progress - living in the now doesn’t allow you to save or invest in the future.

Not enough money this week - sometimes there’s just not enough money to pay everyone you owe right now.

No money for emergencies - living check to check doesn’t really allow you to be prepared for a crisis.

Miss out on important events - sometimes you just have to miss out because the only $800 left on payday has to pay the rent.

Stress - worrying about money every single week for 10 years can really take its toll.

Arguments - fighting over where the last $100 belongs can be like watching two lions fighting over the last scrap of meat on a zebra.

Penalties - Being unable to pay for some things means even more fees, worse credit, higher rates, etc.

Unprepared all the time - you end up not being able to take advantage of sales because you don’t have the money, then pay full price for things because of when you need them!

Priorities get mixed - you end up focusing on the smaller luxuries in life to the point where they become dangerously close to habits. i.e. junk food, gambling, drinking

Envy - everyone else around you always seems to be doing better. Even though you probably make more than them, it just seems like they always have more money available.

Your money works for someone else - wouldn’t it be nice if your money was working for you instead of someone else. Not only are you missing out, but you’re helping someone else instead!

Motivation - living paycheck to paycheck completely takes the motivation out of trying to get ahead.

Avoid budgeting - you end up avoiding any kind of budgeting because of how horribly the numbers won’t work out to your advantage. So you end up digging a deeper hole.

This is why its good to have extra income.

How living paycheck to paycheck can make you homeless.
It’s hard to imagine how someone can go from having a home one day to being out on the street the next. Many homeless people start out with jobs and stable residences, but then social and economic factors intervene, causing a rapid change in their living situation.

The two biggest factors driving homelessness are poverty and the lack of affordable housing. In 2004, 37 million people, or 12.7 percent of the American population was living in poverty, according to the National Coalition for the Homeless. Many of these people live from paycheck to paycheck with nothing saved in the bank. The loss of a job, an illness, or another catastrophic event can quickly lead to missed rent or mortgage payments and ultimately, to eviction or foreclosure.

Lost my job, can't pay rent, going to be homeless, cant get a Job!

Quote:

I've lost my job, going to lose my flat probably going to be homeless after this weekend,
I've tried everywhere for a job with no luck sending 20-30 Resume's a day to employers even phoning places,

I'm 25 and just can't see anything happening for me I've even tried getting Jobs anywhere in the UK,

I Really don't want to be homeless cause how the hell would i get a Job
also have no family to Help!

Just don't know what to do anymore i really don't

It's a cold world out there. As a Global Partner We have you covered.

As mentioned above, in order to put and play 3D Blu-ray movies on new iPad 3, we need to get some help from the third-party tool to help us transcode 3D Blu-rays to new iPad 3 compatible format.

SANTA CRUZ - Santa Cruz fashion designer Jill Alexander has been invited once again to New York for Full Figured Fashion Week. Her show date is June 15.
Gwen DeVoe, creator of Full Figured Fashion Week, considers Alexander one of the top plus-size designers in the country.
The Santa Cruz designer has rocketed to the top of the fashion world in short order. She opened her own business in 2009, specializing in high-quality clothing "for the curvy woman size 12 and above" and offering designs that are flattering and strikingly new.

Last year, Jill Alexander Designs was nominated for the 2011 Plus Size Ladies Retailer Award presented by 100PercentPeople website.
Devoe credits Alexander with not only understanding her customers, but also bringing much needed attention to a market neglected by much of the fashion industry. Top designers such as Donna Karan, Anne Klein, and Dana Buchman now offer plus sizes, seeking a share of what was a $17 billion market in 2011.
"We have seen a huge shift in the fashion industry over the last year when it comes to addressing the needs of curvy women," said Alexander, who is owner and chief designer at her company. "On runways, in stores and even in the pages of Vogue magazine, the plus-size woman is finally getting some fashion respect."
Her company is one of 10 independent design houses chosen to unveil its collection in New York. That will be her fall line, "Familiar Destinations."
The new line comprises classical familiar pieces in jewel tone colors with details such as large collars and cuffs.
"This latest line is really dedicated to women who juggle family, work and travel and yet want to be able to dress up their pieces for evening as well," said Alexander, citing her travels in the U.S. and abroad as her inspiration.

She said her line offers a variety of garments for customers so they can coordinate with favorites in their closets yet integrate new pieces season after season.
Some of her separates are priced at $100, with jumpsuits and dresses designed for special occasions going for $325 and $425.
Her clothing is available to purchase online at www.jillalexanderdesigns.com and in boutiques throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia and the United Kingdom.

The votes are in for the 2012 Webby Awards and quite a few fashion faves nabbed first place honors for both categories: the Webby Award, chosen by the International Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Webby "People’s Voice" Award, voted on by, well, the people.
Unsurprisingly, Anna Wintour came out swinging. The Vogue editor-in-chief will take the stage for the second time to accept the "People's Voice" award for fashion. In typical Webby tradition, Wintour summed up her acceptance speech in the ceremony's mandatory five words: "Sometimes geeks can be chic."

Australia’s fashion product news Week is in its 17th year, but it’s still got some growing up to do.
One of its most pressing issues is timing – its May scheduling means designers are too late for local spring-summer collections and too early for resortwear lineups, which typically arrive in the middle of the year.

This is something IMG, which organizes Australia Fashion Week, is trying to fix, said Jarrad Clark, IMG’s global production director and a guest judge on the country’s reality show “Project Runway.”
“The reason the event is when it is now is because of decisions that were made 17 years ago,” said Mr. Clark, “but the world has changed. The buying side has changed, the retailing has changed and the consumer interaction has changed, so we definitely need to make a change to our timing.”
That’s not to say Sydney’s fashion industry hasn’t evolved. Buyers used to wait months to get their hands on catwalk items, but this year Sydney-based label Toi et Moi is distributing nearly a third of its “Frenchie chic” collection within hours.

Compare that to Burberry, regarded by many as the global leader in the runway-to-reality trend, which sold key pieces from its spring-summer collections online last year so that they arrived in customers’ homes within weeks of being shown. Australian brands An Ode to No One and Bless’ed Are the Meek have similar plans to speed up their distribution, selling shoes directly from the catwalk within three hours through Australian footwear website StyleTread.

But fashion week isn’t limiting its sights to the domestic market. Mr. Clark said IMG is working with some of Australia’s designers – including Dion Lee, who pulled out of the event at the last minute to focus on London Fashion Week in September – to help them expand overseas.
“We want to be working with them across the 12 months, so if they want to go to other markets, we’ve got a footprint there,” he said. “This event should be a springboard for designers looking to grow their businesses internationally.”

KEY TO OUR SUCCESS:
Launching in October 1992, for over the 20 yrs, Gentleman’s Resale has serviced a wide range of luxury goods message menswear consumers. The Demographics range from recent college graduates -seeking fine suits for the interviewing process- to young men on the hunt for luxury, casual-wear, as well as older gentlemen simply looking for that special piece, not necessarily for any function in particular. Gentleman’s Resale aims for higher-end labels that stand to be about 2-3 yrs old. The biggest and moreover exciting challenge here is sifting through the store and finding wonderful apparel upgrades.

we receive,” says Gary Scheiner, President and founder of Gentleman’s Resale, “ A well-trained eye chooses - with respect to what we take in, and hopefully a potential consigner will not get offended- if by some chance we say no to their consignment.”
The consignments are very important to this thriving business as well as the retail sales. With good consignments, all parties involved are pleased.
Twice a year in both July and February, Gentleman’s Resale has a clearance sale with up to 70% off. Once the sale is over (it runs for 2 weeks), the fall preview will begin in August and the spring preview respectively will begin in March. At present, approximately 10,000 direct mailings are sent out to customers within the data base.

September- December is the busiest season. For this brand, the best advertisement is word of mouth and the store has definitely benefited by that. Many times a customer walks in and says that people ask” where did you get that suit, jacket, shirt etc…. and he would say “Gentlemen’s Resale”.
Strong customer relations and healthy product selections work well for a future customer. Many tourists approach the store to find unique apparel and one-of-a-kind gifts. Our customer-centric mission has built up a strong consumer base over the years, both shoppers and the consignees.

Diminished Appetite

"Psychologically, if you see the value of your home falling, you're unlikely to be a strong luxury consumer," said Lorne Baring, managing director at B Capital SA in Geneva, which oversees almost $500 million. "The worry is that slowing GDP growth in China combined with falling house prices diminish the appetite for luxury goods."

May 11 (Bloomberg) -- The biggest rally in three years for luxury product message makers in Europe is fizzling on concern slower economic growth in China and renewed euro-area political turmoil after Greece's inconclusive election will choke off demand.

The nine-company Bloomberg European Luxury Goods Index, whose clothiers and watchmakers get 34 percent of sales from Asia, tumbled 5.5 percent over the past five days, the largest decline since Nov. 24, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index retreated 2.5 percent. The luxury gauge surged 25 percent in the first quarter as designers Hugo Boss AG and Salvatore Ferragamo SpA gained more than 50 percent.

China's cooling growth, the political impasse since Greece's May 6 election and proposed tax increases from France's new president are hurting the industry. Francois Hollande, who defeated Nicolas Sarkozy to become the first Socialist in 17 years to control Europe's second-biggest economy, has proposed a 75 percent levy on incomes above 1 million euros ($1.3 million). Swatch Group AG, the world's largest watchmaker, gets 38 percent of revenue from China, home to more than a million millionaires, and Burberry Group Plc generates 33 percent of sales in Asia.
"With the growth momentum in China slowing, what has been pushing the luxury-goods sector higher and higher is bound to weaken as well, and luxury companies will see an end of their massive rally," said John Plassard, a director at Louis Capital Markets SA in Geneva. "2012 will prove itself a transition year."

Slowing Growth

The Bloomberg luxury index retreated 3 percent from April 13, when a report showed Chinese gross domestic product trailed forecasts last quarter, through yesterday. That's three times more than the Stoxx 600, which slipped 0.9 percent. Swatch, Burberry, the U.K.'s largest luxury-goods maker, and Hugo Boss were the gauge's worst performers in that period. The index rose 0.6 percent today.
The measure tumbled 62 percent from the end of the second quarter of 2007, when Chinese growth was an annualized 14.5 percent, through the first quarter of 2009, when economic expansion bottomed at 6.6 percent, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The Stoxx 600 dropped 57 percent over that period.
The number of dollar millionaire households in China climbed 31 percent in 2010 to 1.11 million, ranking the country third behind the U.S. and Japan, according to a Boston Consulting Group survey released last year.

Growing Valuations

The rally in luxury stocks has pushed Burberry's valuation to 19.9 times estimates earnings, compared with a low of 5.5 in November 2008, according to Bloomberg data. Swatch shares have risen to 15.1 times forecast profits from a low of 6.5 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA has increased to 16.9 times from 8.7. The Stoxx 600 as a whole is trading at 10.5 times projected income, the data show.
"I've become more cautious on luxury goods as the valuations don't look as attractive," said Peter Braendle, who helps manage $60 billion at Swisscanto Asset Management AG in Zurich. "I've reduced positions in recent months to a light buy, down from a strong buy." Braendle said he would reduce his weighting to neutral if growth in Asia, especially China, slowed further.
China's economy expanded 8.1 percent in the first quarter, the slowest pace in almost three years. Foreign direct investment sank for a fifth month in March, while house prices fell in a record 37 of China's 70 cities tracked by the national government.

The top fashion design prize of the 27th Hyères International Fashion Festival, held in the south of France (April 27-30), was awarded Sunday to a trio of Finnish designers: Elina Laitinen, Siiri Raasakka and Tiia Siren.

After the ten finalist designers presented their collections in a fashion luxury goods
show, the international jury, headed by Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, chose to single out the menswear collection from the young Finnish team for its use of color and futuristic styling.
The festival provided the opportunity for ten upcoming designers to present their collections to professionals from the fashion industry as well as to members of the public.

While the most prestigious prize of the festival, worth nearly $20,000 was handed out to the three young Finnish designers, Canadian designer Steven Tai won the inaugural Chloé prize (also worth nearly $20,000) for his womenswear collection, while Ragne Kikas of Estonia took the Première Vision prize (worthabout $13,000) and the public vote for his womenswear collection.

The Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival is an occasion for rising talents in these two areas to present their work and has in the past awarded designers such as Viktor & Rolf and Felipe Oliveira Baptista.

Still-booming growth in China’s fashion luxury goods market, which has it on track to surpass Japan as the world’s top spender on high-end goods by 2015, has seen major brands continue to invest in nationwide expansion, but issues such as a shortage of suitable retail space have made some question whether the market is seeing early signs of saturation. Despite these concerns, on-the-ground statistics indicate that, while the market is evolving and the consumer is becoming gradually more sophisticated, demand remains high. According to CNN, LVMH’s first-quarter sales jumped 25 percent this year, “thanks to China,” adding, “While Chinese buyers are Louis Vuitton’s biggest customers already, the market is far from saturated.” As Wendy Trevisani, a portfolio manager at Thornburg Investment Management, put it, “China’s consumer is still in its infancy,” and consumer spending is growing “pretty much without hesitation.”

This week, IW Magazine speaks to Swiss watch veteran Marc Bernhardt, who now works for the Chinese luxury group VASTO, who, like Trevisani, feels that the vastness of China’s interior — and the potential of consumers in third- and fourth-tier cities far from Beijing or Shanghai — means the market remains one of the most enticing in the world. VASTO, which currently operates around 300 points of sale throughout China, as well as shops in Switzerland and the Middle East and plans to expand to France and the US, positions itself as the “Brooks Brothers of China,” sells apparel, Swiss-made watches, French-made pens and Italian leather goods. From Bernhardt’s interview:

IW: Tell us about the Chinese luxury market.
Marc Bernhardt (MB): China is a huge country with a population of 1.4 billion, but is made up of made very different markets of which differences may be as large as exist between Scandinavia and Italy. However, the “standardization” as evidenced by similar looking malls with uniform global brand marketing campaigns is leveling the playing fields. Based on the development and penetration (of international) brands, the market is largely divided into first, second, third and even fourth tier areas. First tier markets include Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, which have modern infrastructure and a Westernized consumer. Other tier cities will include cities with a population of around 1 million each. Western brands usually enter China through tier one and two and then work their way down.
It is amazing to already see particularly the presence of some of the Swatch brands (Tissot, Rado, Longines) in fourth tier areas. So the notion that there is still virgin territory with ignorant consumers can slowly be dismissed.

Such is life on planet fashion goods message that as next summer's hot trends are being showcased now on the runways at Australian Fashion Week, back in the real world, with the mercury dropping daily, we're busy planning our winter wardrobes. Consider this your official winter wish list.
LACE: One of winter's chicest trends, look to lace blouses and mini-dresses for a glam look by day or night. This season however lovely lace doesn't just come in traditional black – or navy for that matter – but pale shades like cream and white and the prettiest pastels – icy blue, mint green, yellow and fairy floss (al la Louis Vuitton's stunning Autumn/Winter 2012 collection). Or if you're feeling really adventurous go for gilt – even Collette Dinnigan is championing the look.
LUXE LEATHER: Call it the Lisbeth Salander effect but tough leather - and lots of it – is set to rock the winter radar. Work the look in black, or go for luxe shades of chocolate and tan. A leather motorbike jacket, leggings (go on be brave we spied a hot pair at Sass & Bide), a chic ? skirt (the new length), or even a leather shift dress (thank you Celine) will give you serious fashion cred.

EMERALD CITY: Making for a glamorous jewelled statement is the shade of the season – emerald green. Livening up the winter landscape, a bold shot of Emerald courtesy of a tailored jacket, trench coat, satin shirt, or any all-out frock screams on trend.
COLOUR POP: It's no secret classic shades of black, grey and brown prevail in winter, but no wardrobe is complete without the necessary pop of colour. Brighten up your outfit instantly – and avoid overkill – with the help of a poppy bright scarf - go sunny yellow, bright orange, hot pink or green. Rainbow coloured jeans – think red, cobalt, orange and pink (still going strong for winter) will also help you fly the flag for colour.
IN THE TRENCHES: What woman doesn't covet a classic like a Burberry trench in enduring camel? A can't-live-without winter staple – whether you cover up with a fashion favourite trench, a tailored jacket, a cute pea or a sexy swing coat, there's only one colour – camel.
IT BAG: Touting a summer bag won't do in winter, but there is more to life than boring black. This season embrace the latest twist on noir and opt for a rich chocolate or sultry grey. As for the shape? Structured without being stiff is where it's at. Take inspiration from the likes of Prada, Jerome Dreyfuss and Givenchy but be savvy and shop it on the high street.

ANKLE BOOT: As they love to say on planet fashion if you only buy one thing this winter make sure it's ... an ankle boot. Practical but with a fashion forward edge, look for your bootie in luxe leather or chic suede (black or tan is the way to go – or why not both?). A hint of a heel (wooden will break things up) is seriously chic. Oh and in case you've missed it, the other boot to covet right now is the posh gumboot (yep really!). Look to brands like Hunter and Burberry or head to your local Bunning's to pick up the real deal. And yes you can wear them with your skinny jeans and a chic blazer anywhere.
SHAPE UP: One of the most exciting – and sexy – silhouettes to emerge for this season is the peplum. Not to be feared, this new incarnation is an ever so subtle detail on dresses, jackets and skirt and top sets. Big on impact, but totally wearable even the Duchess of Cambridge has adopted the look– and when it comes to style wherever Kate treads the rest of us will be sure to follow.

COZY KNIT: It wouldn't be winter without beautiful knitwear. Moving on from the bulky boyfriend styles, this season knit comes long and streamlined. Look to luxe yarns like cashmere and merino and consider a long cardigan a great alternative to a tailored jacket. Or add a take you anywhere knit dress to your wardrobe.
CAMOUFLAGE: Consider army accents your canvas when creating your winter wardrobe. Army greens, khaki, camel, brown and grey are the key shades for basics like slouchy pants, cargo and cropped jackets, while military inspired pieces – think satchels, pea coats, belts, boots and accessories like sunglasses will help you win the war on fashion.
